Rick Tattersfield

Operating Partner

Rick has over 30 years of professional experience in industry, working across a wide range of sectors including packaging, capital equipment, automotive, green technology, scientific instruments and after-market services around the world in a variety of businesses from pre-revenue start-ups to $16B international corporations.

Rick joined GRCP as an Operating Partner (OP) in 2021, after serving as OP to another lower market private equity firm and in various executive positions at companies such as Illinois Tool Works (ITW).  Rick is also the Principal at Right Tack Operational Consulting where he helps industrial manufacturers and mid-market Private Equity portfolio companies with practical operational, manufacturing and supply chain management support.

Previously, Rick has held the position of CEO at Edge Technologies and Gloucester Engineering Co., COO of 1366 Technologies, an MIT spin-out aiming to produce lower cost solar power, and senior roles at GT Advanced Technologies, where he served as VP and General Manager of the Sapphire equipment product line.  Before that Rick was VP and General Manager of GT Solars’ PV Equipment Division and VP of Global Operations.  During his tenure, the company grew revenues from ~$50 million to nearly $1 billion.  Earlier in his career, Rick had various operational and General Management roles at industrial manufacturer, Illinois Tool Works (ITW).

Rick received his B.S. in Engineering from the Royal Navy Engineering College and his M.S. in Engineering from Cranfield University, where he also completed a Fellowship in Manufacturing Management and various Executive Education programs at MIT’s Sloan School including the Greater Boston Executive Program.  He lives in Providence, RI with his wife.  As Rick is a U.S. Coast Guard accredited Master Mariner, they spend as many weekends as possible at sea.
